Aligning the After School Scope and Sequence
There are two critical steps to planning the curriculum for each host school and child before the Area Director can determine the Springboard Curriculum. The first step is a meeting with a school authority and research by the Springboard Area Director to align the after school curriculum and curriculum calendar with the host school. A scope and sequence form is completed by Springboard in coordination with the host school. This form contains the major content, project assignments and tests for each subject and grade level at the host school and is used by the after school teachers and supervisors to plan instruction.
Aligning the after school scope and sequence provides Springboard students with extra time and support to complete critical assignments and projects, like student portfolios, book reports or science labs. Students get additional instruction and study time to prepare for quizzes and major exams.
Furthermore, Springboard teachers communicate frequently with school day teachers to identify missing assignments and academic deficiencies that should be addressed after school.
